05 May High Court hears Operation Nexus Challenge

Operation Nexus is a joint initiative between the Home Office and Police to verify the immigration status of, and gather information from, foreign nationals, including EEA nationals.

Mrs Justice McGowan finished hearing the judicial review of Operation Nexus on 4 May 2017. The court heard that, where EEA nationals are concerned, Operation Nexus systematically verifies their right to reside in breach of EU law. The Court also heard that verifying immigration status for no police purpose was unlawful. Judgment will be handed down at a later date.
